Howard Park Great Southern Flint Rock Pinot Noir 2022

The Great Southern shows its Pinot credentials here. We mostly tend to think of white grapes rather than red when we think of the region, but this should open eyes. Fresh and alive, the Pinot grape shines. Eye-catching, vivid red-cerise in colour. Plenty of energy and lift on the bouquet in fresh-picked raspberries, red cherries, cranberry, with gentle background herbals. In the mouth, the wine is fresh, alert and primary. Good integration all round with a tangible minerality and fine, sinewy tannin presence. Red berries hold court, ably assisted by spice, dried herbs, tomato leaf, salt bush, finishing with a tart, cranberry-dry zip.
