Farrago – “a confused mixture” – has to refer to the soil, but there is nothing confusing about this Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay. The soils are indeed a mottled mixture containing sandstone pebbles. The wine offers a purity of Chardonnay expression. Citrus blossom, lemon, grapefruit, citrus peel and spice aromas. Farrago offers energy to burn and grip on the palate tied to brisk acidity. Citrus flavours to the fore are a delight. Combines texture and mealy, nutty warmth with a background oak spiciness – top, all round Chardonnay drinking and, if you wish, cellaring.
