La Palazzina Costa della Sesia Vecchi Vigneti Alto Piemonte 2019

Share

Single vineyard, ‘Vecchi Vigneti’ translates to ‘Old Vines’ with this taken from sites planted in 1935 and 1950. The cepage is 50% Nebbiolo, 40% Croatina, 5% Vespolina, and 5% uva rara, meaning it can’t be labelled as Bramaterra due to cepage rules for the appellation. 13% abv and 30 months in bottle. Deeper set and more intense than the Rosso, though in a similar vein. Dried and decaying red rose, balsamic, lavender, ferrous drive, dried cherry. Good balance of intensity and detail on the palate – balsamic, morello cherry, lavender, and rose again. The tannins are firm but filigree and the finish is long and detailed. A wonderful expression.
