Lone Palm Vineyard Hillside Shiraz 2021

Share

The fruit here is sourced from several small blocks of Shiraz from their Marananga vineyard. The majority hails from the Hillside Block, hence the name. A tiny contribution, less than five percent, comes from whole bunches, the rest being whole berries which went into open fermenters with daily pumpovers. The wine was then basket pressed into a mix of French and American oak, 15% was new French, for a period of 16 months. This is impressive stuff. Near black/maroon in colour, the nose is an array of chocolate, blackberries, cocoa powder, blue fruits, warm earth and coffee beans. The palate is bright, lifted and generous. It is also finely balanced and exhibiting very good length with fine tannins. Fresh and complete, offering much to like and more opulence than most in the line-up, yet maintains focus and structure.
