Traditional méthode 100% Chenin Blanc with 4 years on lees. Fruit is sourced from a single vineyard. Curls of green apple and feijoa flesh, honeysuckle and jasmine too. There is a honey pot of sweet smelling spices and a hint of dry clay and sand. The varieties’ natural acidity picks up the fruit in waves, surging pineapple and then guava to the forefront. Some toasted pine nut and raw sesame toastiness, with a clean and almost stony finish. Dosage is well built into the wine, acting as a textural base rather than adding any simulated richness. This looks very fresh and spritely and makes a lot of sense for a celebration of Chenin and all that it can do. Drink now or will cellar for another 3-6 years, don’t underestimate Chenin in the cellar. Gather your friends have a loaded hot chip party with this one.
