Mezzacorona Maso di Mezzo Pinot Grigio 2020

Share

Italian Pinot Grigio is often a delicate little number – subtle, easy drinking fruits being a key to the style. So it is great to see a winemaker pulling out all the stops to make a serious version, and that is what you will find here. The key is the icy climate near the Dolomites in Northern Italy which have helped to create a wine with plenty of complexity and understated power. Bright medium straw in colour, it displays a wide array of fruits, from pear and citrus to apricot and spice. There is then a delicious creamy texture on the palate and richness to the fruit, with spice and musky flavours before tightening up on the finish thanks to chalky acidity. Grigio done well, and a superb match with a posh chicken salad.
