Munda Wurundjeri Country Pinot Noir 2023

Share

A cool and wet vintage with a mix of lower (80%) country of red-brown clay for profile and body with upper (20%) country of deep red volcanic soils and granite for perfume and lift. Wild ferment, matured in French Oak barrels (20% new) for 10 months. Juicy and bright red berries tumble in the red dusty earth.  Raspberry, cranberry, red plum and crunchy cherry, along with soft white florals, baking spice, woodsy undergrowth, a little charry oak and smoked earth.  Dried thyme, oolong tea, star anise, and native rosemary are lined with a crudo meatiness. What a delight on the palate! Juicy, crunchy and succulent – this is a seductive and silky Pinot Noir. Smooth, fine tannins are aligned with a tightly tuned line of acidity. Flavour jumps with expression before slowly unspooling its beauty and lingering long after the event.  Concentrated and powerful fruit appears ephemeral and graceful, light on its feet and floating over the palate to an elegant finish. A standout in the Munda range.
