Norfolk Rise Shiraz 2018

On the Limestone Coast just near the town of Robe sits Mount Benson and the Norfolk Rise vineyard, which with its seaside location crafts very elegant South Australian wines. The Shiraz in particular is always outstanding value for money thanks to its combination of generous fruit and subtle complexity.

The 2018 vintage is seriously complex and moreish, radiating with white pepper, dried sage, clove, violets and black cherry fruit. The palate is dry, juicy and supple, only mid-weight, with cranberry fruit supported by earthy complexity, gentle tannins and a lingering finish. This is wine more about subtlety and elegance, rather than raw power, and it seriously over-delivers with an early-drinking style that would be well matched with tomato based pasta sauces.
