Passel Estate Reserve Syrah 2017

Complex and intense – a real step up. Cocoa powder, white pepper, dark cherry and spice. This has density and certainly some flesh on its bones, but holds the hallmark of the 2017 vintage showing slightly brooding, perfumed fruits. The oak is evident yet very attractive and manages to enhance the fruit expression as opposed to oppressing it. Texture is silky, tightly woven yet generous. Definitely could use a couple of years in the cellar but will drink well now after a swift decant.
