Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir 2020

Share

Pinot Noir at Penfolds is a work in progress. Bright mid cherry in colour, this vintage has charming fruit forward aromas, no doubt thanks to the fruit sourcing from cool climates, such as Tasmania as well as Henty and the Adelaide Hills. That fruit profile is relatively simple with pretty red cherry and cranberry aromas which are gently fragrant with a sappy edge while not so subtle French oak (24% new aged for seven months) adds depth. The palate is then less varietal with fleshy, rounded and ripe dark fruits, dried herb complexity plus slightly chewy oak tannins to finish while lacking the finer details seen in better quality pinot noir.
