Passel Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2019

It’s a real shame that more wineries don’t try their hand at Sauvignon Blanc with some oak influence. We are not talking a heavy handed approach, more oak as a backdrop to add texture and complexity. And that is exactly what we have here with a superbly balanced wine which has retained the nerve and acidity of cool climate Sauvignon. Despite its three years of age, the colour is still bright and youthful, which is a very promising start. There is grassy, citrus and guava aromas well matched to spicy oak. The palate is then concentrated and precise with punchy fruits which then build further nettle complexity in the glass before a long and silky finish. A lovely example of the oaked style that will drink well for some time to come.
