Pertaringa Belonging to the Hills Shiraz 2023

Share

Let’s clear up the title: the brand name Pertaringa, inherited by Bec Hardy from her father Geoff, is a Kaurna language word referring to the McLaren Vale foothills where the cellar door is set. Now to the Shiraz, which defies most usual expectations of the variety as a big, robust red. Instead, this may just be the softest touched variation of the variety you could imagine, generously fruit focused with black berries and dark plums, perfectly ripe with a sensitive weave of French oak spice, integrated and supportive. The palate flows gently, exuding a neat seasoning of black pepper, finishing with a cushion of tannins as tender as the wine has been from the beginning. A comfort from start to finish.
