Pewsey Vale 1961 Block Riesling 2021

Share

I do love this wine, which is in some ways a reserve bottling of Pewsey Vale from the original 1961 plantings, although the history of the property goes back far further than that. There is a superb purity and aromatic energy to the wine with pear, green apple white flower aromas radiating out and wild ferments adding a slight savoury touch. Compact and focussed, there are layers of minerality with subtle jasmine tea, lavender and citrus pith flavours plus a gentle grip that adds heart before a long and more savoury finish. These is excellent length but it also feels far from its peak so try to put a couple away for optimal drinking.
