Pikes The EWP Shiraz 2021

Named after the patriarch of the Pike family, Edgar Walter Pike, who would no doubt be very happy to have a wine of this quality honouring him. It is very easy to forget the Pike reds when one sees their brilliant Rieslings, but to do so does everyone a disservice. These are terrific wines. Some may hesitate at the price of the Sangiovese, and that is up to the individual, but there can be no doubt that this wine is worth every penny and more – love it. Dark magenta with florals, dark berry perfumes, spices and chocolate, it shows a most appealing nose. This is a beautifully crafted, high quality Shiraz with such immaculate balance and excellent length. An elegant, refined style, drink for ten years plus.
