Blackcurrants, blackberries, lavender and lilac. Poppy seed, black peppercorn and mace. Heady spices of clove, nigella seed and allspice. The wine hits the middle palate and tunnels forward with tannins that are finely meshed and lacey. It’s a firm wine but one that has its own style. Old gold chocolate, coffee bean and sandalwood. Does classic ever go out of style? Drink now and will cellar for a further 5-8 years. Speaking of classic, beef bourguignon, anyone?
