Seppelt Mount Ida Heathcote Shiraz 2019

Share

The original Mount Ida vineyard was planted back in 1975 so includes some of the oldest vines in Heathcote. In the 2019 vintage those old vines have stood tall with the resulting wine hitting heights normally reserved for the other top wines from Seppelt, including the St. Peters Shiraz. This is a classic Heathcote red with its deep, bright ruby colour and lashings of dark, dense fruits. Sweet blueberry and blackberry are lifted by regional crushed rock aromas supported by ample but balanced oak. The palate is then thick and ripe – embryonic fruit is given impact by a firm line of acidity with mouth coating and sturdy tannins supporting a long finish. It’s a powerful wine that is made to drink well over the medium term and is sure to impress big red fans.
