St Hugo Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Share

Almost forty years young, St Hugo has over the years developed a reputation as one of Coonawarra’s shining lights. And when wine fashions have come and gone, the ever dependable St Hugo has remained true to its traditional style. And this is a classic St Hugo from an excellent Coonawarra vintage.

Deep ruby in colour, it opens with complex choc mint, green herbs and cedar with fairly prominent but balanced oak in the background. It’s then beautifully framed and poised on the palate with concentrated but also reserved fruits supported by plenty of tannins with a little twist of sour cherry to finish. Those tannins are a little sinewy right now so it needs some time to settle but holds plenty of promise for enjoyment for the next ten or fifteen years.
