The fruit for this comes from McLaren vines over 70 years old, which were planted in 1947, and they have created a very unique style of Grenache made to please. It is not a massive mouthful of a wine but has plenty of flavour, and is the perfect primer for Grenache newbies.
It starts pretty with juicy raspberry almost Pinot Noir fruit but then in the mouth the beautiful savoury characters and power of old vine Grenache come out with some tobacco and meaty complexity. It is supple, long and looks much better on the second day. So best aged for a couple of years or enjoy it over two nights to see the wine at its best. Brilliant value for old vine McLaren Vale Grenache.
