L.A.S. Vino Grenache 2019

Share

The L.A.S. Vino wines are not meant to be conventional. Nic Peterkin’s day job is at Pierro in Margaret River but in 2013 he branched out to create alternate styles from an array of grape varieties. There is Margaret River Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon in the mix mix as well as Chenin Blanc, Portuguese varieties and this Ferguson Valley Grenache.

Whole bunches scream out of this wine and it is a love it or hate it style, which is the point. Very delicately coloured there are layers of pretty red fruits combined with Campari, orange peel and floral elements plus some quite overt oak. The palate has crunchy acidity with toasty oak again adding flavour to what is already a complex wine making for a style that is at its best with food and savoury dishes. Gamey pigeon breast or rabbit are potentially good options to match with what is a unique wine style.
