Voyager Estate Broadvale Block 6 Chardonnay 2019

There is lots of talk around clones of chardonnay and one of the favourites of many winemakers is the French Clone 95, of which this wine is a stunning example of with its perfect combination of power and delicacy. There is a fantastic array of savoury complexity – oat bran, almond meal and chalky aromas are supported by floral, melon and citrus fruits with a faint maritime edge. The palate is then beautifully fine and detailed with smoky gun flint and toasty oak joining in although the wine retains its elegance and focus thanks to a firm acid backbone which drives a long and silky finish. It is a beautifully composed chardonnay that will unfurl over the next decade.
