Feel the richness and width. Grey Label Chardonnay combines Adelaide Hills’ usual sunny citrus fruits and bright personality with some added warmth and texture. It comes in part from fermentation in new and seasoned French oak barriques and a full, spontaneous (second) malolactic fermentation that has softened some of the edges and introduced attractive leesy, nougat, almond meal characters, contributing complexity, texture and length. Runs a strong citrus thread throughout in lemon, key lime and grapefruit pith aided and abetted by some exotic touches in fennel seed, cardamon, spice and fancy lees and oak work. Experienced winemaker Marie Clay had some lovely fruit to work with and didn’t waste the opportunity.
