The new Makers’ Project range includes on the front label a short insight into the winemaking process – the hint here is “Partial whole berry fermentation”, pointing to a technique that can bring vibrant fruit characters to the fore in a finished wine. Varietal notes of black cherry and blue florals like rosemary and violets lift from the glass, sweet grapy fruit sitting comfortably on the palate followed by savoury, spicy tannins. It all works well together for a good take on this often-forgotten variety. Will do the trick with grilled red meats.
