Wynns Coonawarra V & A Lane Shiraz 2018

V & A Lane is one of the most prized plots at Wynns and generally crafts wines at the bigger end of the Wynn’s spectrum – dense, full-bodied and relatively rich wines for Coonawarra. In the warm vintage of 2018, V & A has turned out a superb wine that is muscular and well-structured but also immensely complex and impeccably balanced. It is deeply coloured and explodes with a core of olive tapenade, white pepper and blackberry fruit tightly wound and well supported by classy oak treatment. The palate is then tight, firm and dry – concentrated fruits sit over a bed of taut tannins that then lead to a long, strong and seamless finish. A great wine and pick of the new releases for Wynnsday 2020 that will drink well for one if not two decades.
