Zema Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Share

Zema Estate has a long tradition of producing flavoursome Coonawarra reds. They are not the most subtle or complex wines but deliver plenty of generosity, often with a fair dash of French and American oak, which will no doubt please many, especially when matched with a slab of beef at your local steak house.

Deeply coloured, this wine has an expressive, open knit style – it is open for business and already showing the benefits of age. Cassis, earth, soy sauce and graphite aromas are topped with some firm coconut scented oak. The palate is then fleshy and ripe with layers of blackberry and mulberry fruits plus cedar all supported by some quite firm oak tannins – they will settle and come into better balance given some time. Concentration is good and the finish quite long too so all in all a well priced crowd pleaser that will drink well for a decade, if not more.
