Barratt Pinot Noir Uley Vineyard 2021

I saw the pale colour in the glass and I was excited, you expect lightness but get power. This is one of those wines, perfumed whole bunch florals with delicate raspberry and strawberry fruits. This layer is pulled away to reveal a savoury brambly nose, tannins that are lacy but with an al dente bite and crunchy cranberry acid. An ethereal wine that floats across the palate, finishing with unexpected power and concentration. From the tiniest of yields in a challenging year this wine shows the hallmarks of the vintage.
