I find it hard no matter what the story to ‘love’ the name but it does invoke the intensity of what might be expected in the glass. It isn’t a wall flower, that is for sure, deeply pigmented and inky. The wine opens with mulberry compote and stewed plums. Madagascar vanilla bean and clove studs. Some glossy new oak bolsters the ripe fruit with classic baking spices and tannins are gritty and sit firmly in the front palate, this is designed to age and for now is quite the intensive sip. The fruit quality is supreme and with another 5, 10, 15 years down the track I look forward to seeing how it will evolve. For now it’s dynamic and robust.
