You can count on both Wynns and Coonawarra for producing quality at every level. However, this wine has me checking my information twice. Boysenberries, black cherry skin and prune plums. Compost soils, wood ear mushrooms and Oolong tea. There is a nervy edge to the acidity that keeps the wine fresh with powdery and silty tannins that frame everything beautifully. This is outstanding for its minuscule price and demonstrates just why the Coonawarra is so renowned. This would sit well beside a charred sirloin but also has enough elegance to also be served with earthy root vegetables and fungi. Drink now or will cellar well for another 5-8 years.
