Brokenwood Stanleigh Park Vineyard Hunter Valley Semillon 2022

Classic Hunter Valley Semillon – made with minimal intervention and bottled as a time capsule without any oak influence. The fragrance is beautifully blossomy with elderflower and jasmine. There’s the lemon zest and lime leaf with a lick of river-pebble minerality. In the mouth it is pristine and pure with a remarkable silky, slippery texture, especially given the low ABV (11%). Although the youthful citrus flavours dominate, the quality of the site is evident in the concentration and hints of complexity at such a young age – there’s chamomile, crisp honeydew melon and a whisper of wildflower honey.  Excellent length rounds up the cellar-worthy promise.
