Cape Mentelle Shiraz 2017

Share

This is one of those wines that can really change the way people think about Margaret River Shiraz. So often regarded as a variety that doesn’t suit the region, Cape Mentelle have defied those naysayers with this shining expression…

Quite wild and almost brooding on first look – almost like it’s daring you not to come closer…dark fruits, cocoa nib, liquorice and Chinese five spice; alluring and sophisticated. There is richness to this wine that sneaks up on you; it is somewhat bold and graceful at the same time. Evidence of the cooler 2017 vintage is present in the tapered fine tannins and bright acidity which only enhances the refined and nuanced style of this wine. I want to drink this with spiced lamb & hummus, chargrilled flatbread, and slow roasted eggplant and pretend I’m in another country…
