Cape Mentelle Trinders Shiraz Cabernet 2018

Share

The classic Australian blend of cabernet sauvignon and shiraz is rarely seen in the west, but with the quality of local cabernet and shiraz there really is no reason why that is the case. Of all the Cape Mentelle releases this year, this wine is the most savoury with good complexity. Red currant, fruit pastille and spice aromas compete for attention with oak sitting in the background. On the palate shiraz takes hold, with fleshy dark fruits and also some black olive, new leather and spicy flavours. It is quite a serious wine for Trinders with chalky tannins and admirable fruit length providing structure to age over the medium term.
