Chalk Hill Alpha Crucis Clarendon Syrah 2021

I love it when a Syrah opens with glossy blue and black fruits; it shows me we are already on the right track. Of course, it’s the turn for some graphite, resin, cedar, cloves, roasted coffee beans, and new leather, but I also want to see the fruit. And if I see it first thing, it’s even better. Two other crucial things I’m desperate to see in a Syrah are well-present and persistent tannins and a refreshing stream of acidity. Why, you might wonder. Well, when all the above boxes are ticked, the wine is damn good.
