You can feel safe pouring this flagship wine, as it spills forth the brilliant crimson of well kept fruit. A litany of boysenberries, dark plums and wild guava, with a chorus of rich cedar oak that joins the fruit in harmony. Here you can smell the sweet tones of Jarrah hardwood, intermixed with brambly fruit and caramel coffee. Sweet red cherries and the crackle of dried leaves adds to the layers. A hint at orange oil on the finish. This is rich and opulent but with an edge of red fruit and firm acidity to keep it from being, in any way, heavy. Luscious oak plays into the gathered intensity of fruit well. This is made for scotch fillet, red wine jus and the creamiest mash imaginable.
Shanteh cut her teeth at Sydney’s Award-Winning Quay restaurant where she worked for over a decade and was Head Sommelier from 2018 till 2022. She has been nominated for the Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year award on three occasions and claims that her experience as a Len Evans scholar as one of the highlights of her career. Shanteh hosts her own weekly podcast ‘Over A Glass’ with the Deep in the Weeds Network and spends her time writing for various publications and judging at numerous wine shows across the country.
