Clover Hill Tasmanian Cuvee NV

The range from Clover Hill adds more ammunition to the now overwhelmingly compelling argument that Tasmania produces the best sparkling fruit in Australia. I’d go so far as to say that aside from Champagne itself, no place on the planet can reach the quality offered from our southern State (sorry, England but think of it like a World Cup – you were lucky to make the playoffs).

Their ‘standard’ NV, a blend of three selected vintages, has 53% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier. It kicks off with lovely citrus notes, hints of fresh green apples, bergamot touches, brioche and an underlying minerality. A soft creamy texture, which is partly thanks to the partial malo. Lovely lingering flavours. It does have impressive length and the intensity is maintained throughout. Good balance and the finish offers touches of lemon meringue. A fine effort.
