Donato d’Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2017

Share

Donato’s high-end Aglianico is made from a selection of 50 year old vines across two vineyards. Similarly fermented in cement and aged in old 900 L barrels for 18 months. Pale ruby with a deeper garnet hue. Evocative aromas of slightly darker fruits; crushed dark cherries, blueberries, and roasted red plums glazed with aged balsamic. Subtly savoury notes to complement; liquorice spice, fennel seed, and roasted cocoa nibs with an elegant and polished mouthfeel. Round plum skin tannins married with the bittersweet harmony of blood orange dipped into dark chocolate. This wine is a textbook example of the voluptuous elegance of Aglianico with plenty of flesh and finesse.
