Driftwood Margaret River Artifacts Fumé Blanc 2022

Share

Fumé is making a comeback – a modest comeback – but it’s definitely got a retro vibe about it these days. The introduction of oak to Sauvignon Blanc tempers some of the grape’s exuberant, often outrageous herbaceousness.  Driftwood shows a measured approach to the style with a tantalising hint of French oak smokiness that plays a charming background role to lively grapefruit and green apple flavours with high pitch herbal notes and snow pea. And there’s texture. That’s the other thing about a good fumé, the role of oak allows for a smooth ride across the tongue.
