Fabrizio Vella Bianco Organico 2020

A good first step into the world of more natural wine made with organic grapes and minimal additions. It’s crafted from Cattaratto, a very widely grown indigenous grape variety, on the island of Sicily, which has historically been used for fortified Marsala. But now more and more locals are experimenting with making dry white wines. This example is pale golden in colour and has beautifully exotic aromas of blossom, cantelope, candied pears and nougat that showcase Sicily’s hot climate with a faintly earthy/smoky edge. It’s then quite subtle and reserved on the palate with earthy flavours coming into play in a full-bodied package with tangy, firm acidity. It’s definitely a wine best suited to casual drinking over the next 12 months.
