Gibson Wines Australian Old Vine Collection Eden Valley Shiraz 2018

Elegance is not often what comes to mind with the wines from Rob Gibson, which are generally on the hearty and full-flavoured track. But from old vine Eden Valley Shiraz vines in 2018 he has crafted a detailed wine that delivers both exceptional concentration and complexity. The colour and aromatic profile are both bright and youthful – deep ruby leading into fruit pastille, white pepper and violet scents with generous but well integrated oak in support. The palate is then juicy with Eden’s cooler climate on show thanks to spicy dark fruits lifted by layers of roasted meat and coconut flavoured oak. The finish is long, focussed and seamless suggesting this wine will age very well, although it’s already delicious and ready to enjoy right now.
