Gundog Estate Hilltops Shiraz No. 2 2022

This is a wine of the season from Hilltops in a distinctly Syrah style with more than a nod to the Northern Rhone Valley thanks to its vibrant and piercing aromas of dark cherry and granite with a generous serve of spice. That vibrancy is repeated with fresh acidity and chewy tannins – again spice takes the lead role – the structure firm and unyielding with fruit a little shy right now. It’s a keeper but needs some time to blossom.
