Heartland Shiraz 2019

Share

An attractive introduction to Heartland’s range. This Shiraz has a dense appearance and enticing deep colour with a bouquet of raspberry jam, crushed pepper and a touch of licorice. It is concentrated, almost syrupy, yet its juicy acidity counterbalances the fruit ripeness nicely. The palate is soft and lush, showing textural elements of dark cherry, plum and cinnamon. It is intense, powerful and vigorous as it finishes, with a vivacious mouth-watering personality, making it quite moreish.

I prepared Singapore noodles to match, while aiming to make every element as crunchy and textural as possible. The chorizo, coriander, prawn and snow peas connected with the spicy elements of this Langhorne Creek shiraz. Once it cleanses the palate, the raspberry jam character is more pronounced and an amazing cinnamon edge pops up. Overall, this wine showcases the vintage, resulting in a direct, compact and uplifting expression.
