Henschke Johann’s Garden 2023

Share

A pleasing Barossa Valley old vine duet of Grenache (60%) and Mataro (40%), fragrant and fleshy, crimson fruited with all manner of garden smells entwined: lavender, saltbush, crushed twigs, bouquet garni with a mineralled fine gravel dusting. The palate is a plush swirl of all the above, its personality driven by the botany of the wine, the seasoning and scenting of the fruit, almost digging up earthy layers as you take it all in, adding a textured foundation. Plenty to explore from top to bottom.
