Henschke Tappa Pass Shiraz 2017

Share

Tappa Pass is a different side to the Henschke clan with its Barossa richness without the reserved Eden Valley style. It is still unmistakably Henschke – so light on its feet and even elegant, for the Barossa.

The wine is deeply coloured but not overwhelming in a bright and pure style. There are many layers of fruit – mulberry, spice and sage plus a touch of French oak. But in the mouth it becomes surprisingly muscular – with powerful fruit, balanced acid and tannins in a more mid-weight style with classic Henschke balance. Long and understated – a lovely expression of Barossan Shiraz. The wine is not immediately obvious but really delivers in balance and complexity which is a very good sign for long-aging potential.
