While much of the Henschke wine portfolio takes its inspiration from the Barossa’s older vines and a duly respected family history, The Nurturer is a wine of the future, a blend of seven southern Rhone-borne varieties – Counoise, Shiraz, Grenache, Grenache Gris, Carignan, Clairette and Cinsault – harvested from the family’s Home Gardens Vineyard in Keyneton in order of ripening, fermented sequentially into one glorious composition, is a wine that vibrates with a juicy berry cocktail of flavours garnished with earthy, rocky, floral, leafy, peppery herb garden like highlights, an embodiment of the French term “garrigue”. It’s named in honour of Prue Henschke, viticulturist supremo, botanist and environmentalist who planted these site-suited varieties in response to an ever-warming climate. If ever there was a wine that is about stepping lightly upon the earth, this is it.
