Super impressive version of Australian Zinfandel here and the best I can remember from Hentley Farm. The real key to Zinfandel is achieving great balance between hedonistic fruits, acidity and alcohol, and Andrew Quin has nailed it in 2019. There is a super array of aromas, from Christmas Cake and mulberry to sweet raspberry with earthy, spicy notes and mocha oak sitting in the background. It’s fleshy and bold in the mouth as you’d expect but also carries surprising subtlety with that raw fruit power kept in check and then driving through to a long, and strong finish. A high point for Australian Zin.
