Hewitson Old Garden Mourvèdre 2019

Share

Planted in 1853 this is a pretty impressive wine and I do love a single vineyard Mourvèdre. As the oldest Mourvèdre vines on earth they certainly have a reputation to live up to, giving you a snapshot of wine history in every sip. Rich, exotic spices like cardamom and allspice fill your mouth as do the silky ripe tannins. There is a sweet core of black fruit with classy vanilla oak, the perfect marriage of fruit and savouriness. This is no fruit bomb, more a deft touch with understated power.
