Katnook Estate Prodigy Shiraz 2021

Share

This is aged for 16 months in 100% new large format French oak. Opaque with a ruby rim. This is deep set and brooding with aromas of prune, camphor, plum pudding, dusty cedar, ground coffee and black pepper making way for leather, dried herbs and menthol. The palate holds lashings of cedar oak chew to the texture that sits around dark plum, prune, dark chocolate, coffee, black pepper and leather. Big tannins here, stacked and mighty in their frame and assertiveness constricting the mouth with dark chocolate bitterness through a muscular finish. There’s a nostalgic feel here for its bold ripeness and oak influence. A mighty Shiraz not for the faint of heart.
