Kilikanoon Mort’s Reserve Watervale Riesling 2023

Hallmark regional qualities abound with Mort’s Reserve. The delicacy and aromatics are pure Watervale: citrus blossom, honeysuckle, Thai basil, citrus and apple. Acidity is keen – it was picked pretty early to raise the level of acidity and, hence, the wine’s potential for further ageing. And there is a LOT of potential there. The youngster is coming together beautifully at this early stage, showing the style we expect from Mort’s with emerging flavours in lime, lemon, engaging aromatics and a touch of exotic green papaya – building blocks for a bright future. It’s all there, delivered in a fine, breezy acidity and developing texture and closing with a delicious lime juiciness. A keeper.
