Marking the 50th anniversary of the first Knappstein vintage, made by its namesake Tim Knappstein for many years, thereafter several ownerships and still at the top of its game via the stewardship of senior winemaker Michael Kane. A combo of estate vineyards – 35%-40% Watervale and the rest in the Spring Farm district to the east of Clare township – brings a balance of richness and tight shaping, starting with pure citrus aromas and classic lemon-lime flavours, the latter allowed to persist due to neatly toned acidity. A non-aggressive, easy to handle, first step Riesling that delivers everything the variety is enjoyed for.
