Krondorf 121 Settlers Old Vine Shiraz 2022

Share

Barossan Shiraz can cop a lot of flak for its boldness, richness and generosity. So, let’s hear it for Barossa Shiraz when it is done very, very well. Dark and brooding, 121 Settlers is a big hearted Shiraz delivered with class. The hands that fashioned this wine deserve recognition for an astute handling of fruit, oak and tannin to produce a seemingly effortless quality. Aromas of woody spiced oak, ripe blackberries, plum, bay leaf, Aussie bush and dusty cocoa. Dense, generous and ripe with a smooth running all the way through, it’s the fine work of the tannins that keep things fresh and bright with a firm structural integrity well in place. It retains its Barossa address and that’s both reassuring and absolutely required. And amid the black fruits, the blackstrap liquorice, spice, chocolate and vanilla, you are surrounded by a big Barossan hug delivered with love. How good is that? And, what’s more, it’s a keeper.
