Krondorf 121 Settlers Shiraz 2022

This offering celebrates the founding of the eponymous village in 1947. The vines which provided the grapes for this wine are around sixty years of age. Maturation is a mix of new and older French oak for around a year and a half. Vibrant maroon/magenta, there are lashings of oak immediately apparent on the nose, but the integration is good and continues exactly as one would wish. On the nose we have notes of mocha, vanilla and nutmeg, cassis, coffee beans and chocolate. There is good intensity here and impressive length with fine balance. A wine brimming with energy and persistence, right through the very fine, powdery tannins. A cracking Barossa Valley Shiraz which will provide pleasure for at least the next fifteen years.
