Looking for a big red wine that is not shiraz? Then look no further than malbec from some of the warmer regions in South Australia. They are wines that are not only deeply coloured but also pack plenty of flavour and impact. This version from Little Giant is unsurprisingly deep ruby in colour and displays those classic malbec characters – blackberry and ink which are lifted by a dusting of violets, earth and spice. The fruit in then bright and generous in a full-bodied package with supple tannins. It fades a bit on the finish but is still a good drink for when red meat is on the menu.
